The Riverdale Paper plc Group started life simply as Riverdale Recycling, offering specialist services for the recovery and recycling of all types of paper and board.

The company very quickly established itself as the North-East’s leading paper recycler, with an enviable reputation for customer commitment, built on values of service efficiency and business integrity. This reputation soon spread across the country with Riverdale Recycling becoming a major player in the UK’s independent waste paper business, servicing national contracts for some of the countries largest commercial organisations in retail, financial services and public arenas.

Business continued to increase and, with secure document destruction services added to the company’s portfolio in the form of Riverdale Security Shredding, the Riverdale Paper plc Group moved to the purpose-designed facilities at Team Valley, Gateshead, that are now the group’s administrative headquarters.

The Riverdale organisation has continued to grow through the addition of other business services that are complementary to its core businesses; Riverdale Security Shredding now provides a comprehensive data destruction service, encompassing the secure disposal of all types of digital media and equipment to provide a complete service for its customers, whilst the group’s recycling services have broadened to include all types of waste recovery and disposal with the establishment of Riverdale Waste.

Underpinning this organic growth are the group’s progressive policies of continuous improvement through investment in staff, equipment and facilities, all aimed at enhancing the services that Riverdale companies offer to their customers.

These policies are evident in the state of the art machinery and vehicles employed in the group’s operations as well as in the group’s acquisition of new facilities at Durham, which have made a significant contribution to service efficiency in the region.

Maintaining its position as the leading company in its field in the North-East, the Riverdale Group is very different to the company that set down its roots all those years ago.
